The following steps should be done gradually. It is recommended not to move on to the next step until the cat or dog is satisfied with the current step.

The duration and frequency of each step should be constantly increased to prevent dental cleaning from becoming a stressful experience for both you and your pet.

• 1. Lift the pet's lips until the teeth can be seen. Praise your pet a lot.
• 2. When your pet has gotten used to you touching his mouth on the outside, start running your finger over his teeth.
• 3. Once you get used to it, add a small amount of Beaphar toothpaste. Put it on his finger and let him lick it. The toothpaste is meat flavored and most pets love it. We recommend using the Beaphar Toothbrush with the Beaphar Toothpaste. This handy dual-ended, soft-grip toothbrush has two head sizes, each with variable-length bristles to help you reach all of your pet's teeth, even the hard-to-reach areas of their mouth.
• 4. When he has gotten used to the taste and texture of the toothpaste and you touching his mouth, you can start introducing the Beaphar toothbrush. To do this, just moisten the bristles of the brush and put a little Beaphar toothpaste.
• 5. Let your pet investigate and lick the delicious meat-flavored toothpaste off the brush. Don't forget to praise him.
• 6. When you feel comfortable with each of the steps, it is time to combine all the steps. Start by brushing a few teeth in this session and gradually increase the number of brushes until you can clean all the teeth. Replace the brush after three months, or sooner if the bristles appear worn. Clean the brush thoroughly after each use.
